Brooks had his 8 year old sleepover with Grandpa Joe and Grandma Becky! He picked to go to Chick-fil-A for dinner, picked so many treats at the grocery stores, played all the card games he wanted, and ended the night with picking The Little Giants movie to watch. He slept at the foot of their bed, just like he does at our house. He was pretty worried about sleeping over and I was proud of him for doing it. His first sleepover ever. Can't believe he is 8!

Kids
January photo download. We watched Pratt for a few days while my sis went on a weekend getaway. The boys love to wrestle. I truly don't understand how it brings them so much joy. But it can be pretty funny to watch. Taco is fearless. Russ was trying to teach them all how to do backflips in the basement. We went to Addelyn's farewell this month. And having a child sleep on me is one of the best things in my life. I will never get sick of that. Sure love my kiddos!

Happy Birthday Brooks!
Happy birthday to our Brooksie boy! Brooks continues to love all things basketball. He loves to watch it on tv, read up about all the players with books or sports cards and dunk the ball while jumping off a ladder. He sleeps in just his underwear and gets sooo hot while he sleeps. He refuses to drink out of cups and just drinks straight from the sink faucet. He is very cautious when doing new things and it causes quite a bit of anxiety for him to do things he is unsure about. He still does reading tutoring and really loves his tutor. He is actually a great reader but lacks confidence and so we are continuing to do reading so he feels more comfortable reading in front of his class. He is enjoying 2nd grade but isn't totally in love with learning Spanish although he is right on track with his Spanish skills. He is a tender kid that feels things deeply. I worry that some of the kids in his class influence him for the negative and I pray everyday that he will have the courage to do what is right, regardless of what his friends do. I did get a call from the principle this year stating that Brooks, and his friends, were throwing the 1st graders wall balls on the roof of the school. Brooks got emotional and embarrassed when I talked to him about it. He doesn't like to get in trouble and he just needs to remember in the moment that he doesn't feel good about himself when he makes a wrong choice. He cuddles less with us but likes us to snuggle close to him when he falls asleep. He doesn't like public affection and pulls away when I try to kiss him on the cheek or hold his hand. He loves his mullet and tells me he is never going to cut his hair again! He has a cute natural curl to his hair and when Russ permed his hair it made his mullet look so much better. Taco and him are good buddies and love to play together. He would play video games (NBA 2k) all day long if I let him. He loves to listen to hip hop music on volume 100!! I constantly have to ask him to turn his music down. I love when he dances and he actually has some really great dance moves. I love watching him do the "griddy." He wears a hat and a NBA jersey over a t-shirt everyday. He is naturally athletic and if he just practices a little he could be so good. He is going to try baseball again this spring and I hope it will be a more positive experience for him. One of his favorite (healthy) snacks is frozen fruit and yogurt. He also loves to make smoothies with frozen bananas and strawberries. He could eat a pound of blueberries if we let him. I love his dimple smile and his dimple is becoming more prominent on his right cheek as he is starting to lose his baby fat in his face. He loves that he is one of the tallest in his class and is quickly approaching Hallie with his height. He only wears a size smaller shoe than she does. He wants to be an NBA basketball player when he is older and hopes to be well over 6 feet tall when he grows up. He takes things that people say for face-value and sometimes it makes me laugh what he believes is true based on what a classmate has told him. Brooks is a sweet boy and we are so grateful he is ours! We love you Brooksie!!
Due to the delay in coming home from Texas, we celebrated his birthday with his grandparents on his actual birthday. He chose a Michael Jordan themed birthday party. I made him go to school for half the day because he missed so much school last week while being in Texas. We opened presents in the morning, had french toast for breakfast, went to school for half the day, got checked out and got a donut at the gas station, had Dominos for dinner, had a tiny playdate with Romney Petersen (who's birthday is also on 1/27), and had more presents and cake and ice cream at night! I think he had a great day celebrating with all his favorites!
Russ and I gave him a few t-shirts (one with all the legends of basketball on it and a Shai Gilgeous Alexander one (his current favorite basketball player), a dude perfect sweatshirt, some more basketball cards and a new basketball card book and some scratch and sketch art books.
His grandparents gave him some basketball jerseys, some basketball cards (some signed by his cousins, Tate and Crandall), a Michael Jordan sports card, basketball croc charms, and a baptism picture. Jensen and Pratt joined for ice cream and cake as well.
Last night as a 7 year old!
